Going down state for the basketball championships.  We lost!

Traveling to France, Belgium, Switzerland.  We traveled by car all over these three countries.  My husband's home town is no far from Albertsville, France.  We spent six weeks there and we hope to go again in the near future.

No one experience stands out.  I enjoyed high school in general. I remember Miss Griffiths' classes and band fondly.

OCCUPATION:   Employed by Jewel Foods in the Transportation Department.   Includes coordinating the annual Christmas Party for 500 people (which I like to do) to working with the State of Illinois maintaining driver's qualification files to tabulating and recording state mileage records for licensing purposes.  Each day is something different.

SPOUSE'S OCCUPATION:   Heavy equipment operator.

MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE DURING HIGH SCHOOL:

In Junior year, Miss Hawkins (typing) and Mrs. Butler (American Lit) were my second and third period teachers respectively, followed by lunch.  I used to joke that after almost two hours with these two teachers it was almost impossible for me to eat.  Talk about stressed out!  Anyone having had these teachers will know exactly what I mean.

MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE SINCE  HIGH SCHOOL:

A REAL CORNBALL!  I worked for Melrose Park School in Melrose Park as the school's librarian, for three years before having my last child.  I loved my job and the children and teachers I worked with.  The last day I was to work there happened to be "Mrs. Arquilla Day".  That day each and every child in the school - from kindergartner to eighth                  grader came to say good-bye.  The out pouring of love was something that I will never forget.

Had a lot of really great times, but the best has to be meeting and falling in love with Char.  She's still as beautiful a women inside as she is outside.

Getting caught ditching school because my "father's" voice seemed to be going through adolescent changes when "he" called in to report my absence.

Living on a houseboat in Sausalito, CA. and driving a taxi in San Francisco when I hardly knew the city at all.  Also, watching birth my children being born is an experience I'll never forget.  My hat's off to you ladies!

CURRENT INTERESTS:  Founder of the Children of Chernobyl project in Belmont CA. which takes me to the former USSR twice a year.  That's where we will be during the reunion.

As it turns out, those Russian classes with MR. Tucker proved to be both memorable and valuable.

MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE SINCE  HIGH SCHOOL:

Attending the millennium observance of the Russian Orthodox Church in the USSR in 1988 - and then subsequent trips that introduced me to the plight of the children of Chernobyl who live at risk in radiation-contaminated regions of the new nation of Belarus.  I've also written a book, "Children of Chernobyl: Americans respond to the Crisis", which will be published this fall in Russian by Belarus Publishers in Minsk.  We're still working on an English-language edition.

I went through all 4 years of high school with my husband and didn't know him then.  Seventeen years later we were both working for the Village of Schaumburg and he called me one day and asked me to baby-sit his 2 children.  I said I don't think so.  I have 3 of my own.  Then, the next week he called me and asked me out to dinner, and I said yes.  We were married 6 months later.

I remember emotional afternoons spent at Else's house - practicing "jitterbugging" in the living room; screaming at Blackhawk Hockey games; necking on late night dates in my living room with Arnie; walking down student filled halls at Proviso.

There isn't a single most, but many memorable ones: the birth of my 2 sons; my first date with my husband on a mountain climb in CO. for which I wasn't prepared; Aspen ski trips; semester breaks with girl friends at C.U.

Traveling to England for our first overseas family vacation.  Our youngest daughter spent the spring semester there and will be our guide.  I hate to miss our Reunion, but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

All of them were such learning experiences that its difficult to pick just one.  I remember all the pajama parties with us girls waiting for the guys to come by; my Senior Prom week-end; climbing the water-tower at night in the cemetery on 1st avenue.

MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE SINCE  HIGH SCHOOL:

Last year, sailing the US & British Virgin Islands with a crew of 4.  Traveling Mexico with a photographer friend and back-packing it and busing around.  Attending Southern Illinois University and finally graduating after many years.  And, last but not least, having my 2 sons.

So many - being elected VP of Student Council and Treasure of Freshman Class.  Using another students notes to pass chemistry and turning HERs in.  Going across the street for "lunch" & smoke up a strom.  Being a "leader" in gym and getting to teach.

MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE SINCE  HIGH SCHOOL:

Living!  The ups & downs of raising a family (parents included).  It has kept me happy, sad, mad, physically active & totally confused.  Wouldn't change it for the world!

Singing with Lynn Reeves in a "talent show"(?) - I've always loved to sing and didn't do enough of it then.  In retrospect it may have seemed more like the Gong Show to others, but we had fun and it felt like music!  A sweet silly moment...

Hand-gliding off Makapuu in Hawaii - terror, awe, and pure delight in flying.

Working eith families whose children contacted Reye's Syndrome, knowing that in some small way you have helped to ease the devastation they are expericing.  Providing life saving information to the medical community and general public concerning the symptoms of Reye's Syndrome.

January, 1962 at basketball game, I was introduced to Mike Sandt.  That brief time turned out to be the start of the "best of my life".

Several teachers stand out in my mind.  Their influence has stayed with me whatever I do.  I wish I could say "Thank you" to Mr. Daniels, Mr. Schumacher, Mrs. Scheible, Mrs. Shockley, Mr. Bill, and a few others.

Meeting my husband in Saipan, Micronesia in 1968.  Raising our twin sons has been a continuing experience!

I most enjoyed my Senior Year with all the activities associated with it.  I was sports editor of the Proviso Pageant which I realy enjoyed especially because of the people I worked with.

MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE SINCE  HIGH SCHOOL:

They are almost too numerous to list.  My most recent experience was the celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. After a very nice party given to us by our daughters.  We spent 2 wonderful weeks on 4 of the Hawaiian Islands - it was GREAT!  I also remember my recent retirement as a LT Colonel from the Illinois Air National Guard.  Also recently, both our daughters became engaged and we are busy planning their weddings. The recent I cannot attend the reunion is that my youngest daughter is getting married on June 27.  Our other daughter's wedding is scheduled for October 17.   It will be a very happy and expensive year for us in 1992, but we are looking forward to both weddings with great joy and excitement.
